Kukla UK and Portugal are enhancing their dedicated beverage and ambient food solutions

Kukla UK and Kukla Portugal announce the enhancement of their dedicated beverage and ambient food solutions between the two countries. Starting in February 2023, customers can access a wider range of quality logistics services. This includes groupage (LCL) consolidation services  Full Container Load (FCL), Bulk, customs advice and assistance, temperature-controlled equipment and bonded and non-bonded warehousing. Vessel capsizes in the Iranian port

PORT UPDATES

Strike action to affect travellers and goods entering the UK on 1 February

The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union has announced Civil Service industrial action that will impact Border Force operations. The proposed strike action will impact international arrivals at all UK air and maritime ports as well as those travelling to the UK from UK border controls in Calais, Dunkirk and Coquelles in Northern France. Portugal: Strikes are expected in Lisbon until 5 February 2023.

RAIL FREIGHT

Collapsed Hook line at Basingstoke (London routing)

It will take almost 100,000 tonnes of stone and steel to underpin the collapsed rails at Hook, on the east side of Basingstoke on the way to London. The line collapsed on Sunday 15 January after weeks of heavy rain caused a three-metre high embankment to give way. Network Rail, the British infrastructure agency, has admitted that the landslip will take weeks to repair. North America: An outage in New Mexico, affects operations between Southern California and Chicago, Southern California and Kansas City, and also Mexico and Chicago. Rail shipments moving through the impacted area are expected to have delays up to 72 hours (24 January 2023).

ROAD FREIGHT

Great Yarmouth port advises HGVs to avoid residential roads

Port bosses have advised lorry drivers and hauliers not to use residential routes along Great Yarmouth’s seafront. Great Yarmouth’s Port has announced it has taken proactive steps to minimise disturbances caused by heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) using residential roads as part of diversions around the third river crossing work. SEA FREIGHT

Non-alliance share begins to fall as freight rates normalise

As the market recovered from the first Covid shock, a confluence of small carriers began to deploy capacity, particularly on the Transpacific trade, and big carriers began to launch services outside of the alliance networks.
