Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Freight Forwarder to join our French department, based in Folkestone, Kent, and help support and expand our freight forwarding operations.
In this role, you will manage the day-to-day coordination of customer shipments, from selecting the most suitable mode of transport to monitoring deliveries and keeping customers informed throughout the process.
You will also be responsible for obtaining the necessary shipping documentation and arranging import and export clearance, helping ensure shipments move smoothly and efficiently across borders.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Location: Folkestone, CT20 2TQ

As a Freight Forwarder, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of freight forwarding. This includes coordinating and managing customer shipments, from selecting the most suitable mode of transport to monitoring delivery and keeping customers informed throughout the process. You will be responsible for obtaining all necessary shipping documentation and arranging import and export clearance.
This is a hands-on operational role, ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end freight forwarding operations, primarily using sea containers, intermodal rail and road trailers.
- Execute orders and coordinate with stakeholders such as suppliers and carriers to ensure prompt collection and delivery of shipments.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or delays that may arise during shipment.
- Strategically plan transport solutions by considering customer requirements, cost efficiency, routing options and service level agreements.
- Manage import and export documentation, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, including transport arrangements, shipping tracking and invoicing.
- Track and monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery and provide updates to customers.
- Deliver excellent customer service by keeping clients informed about their shipments and resolving any queries or issues promptly and professionally.
This position is ideal for someone who already has some experience in a Logistics environment and wants to progress their career.
Our ideal candidate for the Freight Forwarder role will have:
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in logistics and freight forwarding (preferred).
- Full fluency in English; French language skills are desirable.
- Strong knowledge of customs procedures and import/export documentation.
- Excellent time management, communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
