BIFA (British International Freight Association) has been monitoring conditions in the container market for some time, liaising with international organisations in order to compare global market conditions.

The subject was discussed at length at the lastest BIFA Maritime, Road and Rail (Surface) Policy Group meeting held on 14 July, and following the meeting BIFA prepared the report for all of its members, to explain:
- How the present difficult position has arisen
- The impact the current issues are having on the container market and wider economy
- Why it is so difficult to resolve in both the short and long term
- Potential for the immediate future
Due to the fluctuating market, the presentation may only have only a relatively short shelf life, however, BIFA and members of BIFA’s Maritime, Road and Rail (Surface) Policy Group agreed that the report was necessary to highlight and share, the ongoing issues that the freight forwarding industry faces, with their clients.
