WSTA releases essential guidance on UK’s deals with Australia and New Zealand
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Secretary of State for Business and Trade Kemi Badenoch announced on 4 May 2023 that the UK-Australia and UK-New Zealand free trade agreements comes into force from midnight on 31 May. WSTA has prepared comprehensive guidance on what the new Rules of Origin are and how members can make claims for Preferential Treatment. The guidance applies to both incoming and outgoing shipments. No rail freight traffic between Rotterdam and Kijfhoek
There is currently no train traffic between the port of Rotterdam and Kijfhoek, the large emplacement yard located south of the port towards Dordrecht. The emplacement yard is where DB Cargo handles a large part of its Dutch hinterland volumes. “The blockage has major consequences for DB Cargo train traffic to and from the port of Rotterdam”, says the operator. Global box carriers increase schedule reliability at slower pace
Global schedule reliability has continued to improve month to month, although the strength of the improvements has declined with each proceeding month, according to Sea-Intelligence. In April 2023, schedule reliability improved by 1.7% month to month, to 64.2%, up 29.9% year on year. The average delay for late vessel arrivals also continued to decrease, from 0.72 days in March to 4.34 days in April. EU committee backs alternative fuel infrastructure deal
The European Parliament’s Transport Committee approved on 24 May the AFIR agreement reached by the Council, European Commission and Parliament earlier this year in March.
AFIR sets requirements for EU Member States to deploy alternative fuels infrastructure for battery-electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles on the trans-European transport (TEN-T) network, in safe and secure parking areas and in urban nodes.
